The active insecticidal ingredient is the same in both products, imidacloprid. However, the concentration is quite different: .15% for the Bayer product and 1.47% for the Fertilome. (Yes, I had to look it up). So unless the Bayer product was 1/10 the cost of the Fertilome, it wasn't cheaper on an active ingredient basis. I have used Fertilome primarily for lacebugs successfully for quite some time. It is important to treat early before infestation is at an advanced stage. If the label on the Bayer indicates it will deal with lacebugs, it probably will eventually, but I would guess that you'll have to use quite a bit more of it per gallon of water to make the proper solution. Another example of not actually being cheaper.

I should have mentioned that insecticidal soaps are safe and effective against adult lacebugs and nymphs. It has no residual or systemic action so you have to spray frequently. Follow the manufacturer's guidance for intervals between treatments.

Thank you very much, I definitely didn't realize that on the active ingredient being much less concentrated in Bayer. You're right, not cheaper at all. I just sprayed some Ortho Elementals on the active adults I could spot yesterday, so hopefully that puts a dent in the problem until I can get over to pick up some Fertilome.
