Hi, I am looking for some ferns that are more upright/vertical, rather than wide arching/creeping. I'd like to get something as a backdrop for my shrubs; right now I have ostrich ferns growing between shrubs and the fence, but as the space is small, tall ostrich ferns arch and shade a lot of ground with other (smaller) perennials. I'd like to get something as tall (i.e. 2-4ft), but with a more upright/vertical growth (so not much overhang). Oh, and I'd like such ferns to be hardy to z4, maybe z5 (I'm in Toronto).

Any suggestions?
