I started a 4x4 SFG this year and planted two two zucchini plants in adjacent squares. I might add that I believe they are bushing variety, black beauties. They seem to be taking over!! They're now higher then one of my tomato plants in a more northern square and shielding most of the pepper plants in an adjacent square. Everything seems healthy and flourishing in nearly every plot (except for the spinach and onions, but I gave up of those.) Also, I don't have any actual zucchini growing on the plants, just 5-10 huge, tall leaves, and a few flowers. I've briefly browsed pruning zucchini plants, but all I found was to not do so until a couple veggies are actively growing. My question is, is should I remove a few of these leaves? I do have several small tomatoes growing in those shielded plants and a few green peppers but I'm afraid the zucchini is getting the most of the sun. Like I said, most of the plants are doing well... Sugar snap peas (3 plants), tomatoes (3), Brussels sprouts (2), lettuce (1), green pepper (2), chives (1), but the spinach and onions i have little hope for. So I'm not worried about the quality of soil, just that the zucchini will take over and/or they won't produce veggie but hinder the peppers and tomatoes.

I'm in zone 6b and the garden gets approximately 8-9 hours direct sun
