Love the simplicity.....would like to build one for our home in Greece....what sort of steel did you use, any maintenance required?

If you did this in subtropical climate (I'm thinking here in Hong Kong) what metal or steel type could be used so that we could avoid a yearly refinish? I like this and was thinking it would be nice in a round Chinese style door frame. But I live in a rural area and am thinking that a worker might find this challenging to do as is--what other basic material could be used?

This could also be made from aluminum or bronze. Aluminum, if finished properly will hold up very well. Steel, if galvanized before the top coat finish will also hold up well.
