This chandelier was designed to hang over an island, however we have worked with various interior designers who have used alternative island lights to go over dining tables. Considering you have a rectangular dining room table, the rectangular candle holders on this light would complement nicely. Thank you for your interest!

Hi Joe,

The piece can definitely hang above your rectangular dining room table. You need to consider a few things.
1.) The width of the fixture is 41 1/2 inches, so your dining room table should at the shortest 7 feet in length.
2.) Your ceiling height. This fixture hangs at a maximum of 58 1/2 inches downward and the height can be adjusted in 6 inch increments.

Hi and thanks for your response! I didn't realize the length was too long and I ordered the light. My table is 64" w/o the leaf (which is the way the table is most of the time) and with the leaf it's 82'' which almost cuts it.

I'm wondering if it will work still beings it's not a massive looking light, I feel it's kind of thin looking but I haven't seen it in person. There will be about a foot of table left on either side of the light without the leaf. Also It will sit about 35" above the table.

What do you think?
