Cabinets too high

I need a 1/2 cabinet or shelf below existing cabinet for easy access to glasses..as cabinets are a tad high ....backsplash will be glass and under cabinets is stainless steel... Ideas?

How much space is there from the counter to the underside of the cabinets? It may be best to lower the cabinets.

anything less than 18" of space feels very squashed, especially as your lowers are the same depth as the uppers? how you going to work there? def. not enough space over your cooktop. looks very very wrong.....

Trying to attach a photo so you can see space... The height is 33" and it is not inset... So to drop would see the cabinet in your face...I think an inset open shelf might be the answer. I added another comment where you can see the height better.

As fix. Add a ladder rail and a industrial looking ladder. done.

Thanks for your comments ..Q if I do a shelf...is it best in glass or stainless? Backsplash is one piece glass and the cupboards will have glass panels attached.. Underside is stainless like the range vent. Any pictures of examples would be welcome..
