yellowing fan palm

This was planted as a seedling 4 or 5 years ago, and has been slowly
growing.Earlier this year, I thought it may be so slow growing because
it wasn't getting enough water because there was plastic under the
gravel, so I pulled the rocks back, peeled up the plastic, and make a
berm slightly outside the drip line. I water every week or two, letting
the water trickle for several hours to make sure it gets nice and deep.
It has been growing faster since that. I have been feeding it once a
month since the weather warmed back in about April. It's looked fine, up
until about 3 weeks ago when I noticed its been starting to look a
little yellow. I noticed today it has gotten significantly yellower over
the last couple of weeks. Any ideas as to why? I have never had any
issues with my other fans, one of which is a few feet outside the
picture on the other side of the Mexican bird of paradise, and thrives
on absolute neglect and has turned into a monster.
