Wood floor

Tomorrow is final coat if poly to a coffee brown floor on white oak. I so t want shiny. Should I do semi gloss or satin. Floor person says semi is not shiny just has a glow and satin is more dull? Hence I told them to do semi gloss. Also was told that most people do semi gloss.

I need quick help! Thanks

Right now satin is in...especially on mid-tone floors. I disagree with the installer. A semi-gloss has a distinctly "shiny" appearance. It would not rank as "glossy" it it certainly has more than a "glow" to it. I describe "satin" as having a 'glow'.

And a large section of the population are working with satin...semi-gloss and high gloss are both "out" as a fashion. Only those people who WANT/NEED/DESPIRATE FOR a shiny floor go with semi or full gloss.

Your area may see more "semi-gloss" but as a whole, the N. American taste is turning to satin.

Semi is 40-60% sheen depending on manufacturer.
    Satin is around 20%
    Matte is less than 10%
    Gloss is well over 60%
I'd say go matte. Glitsa makes an excellent matte finish called ULTRA MAXX.

Satin. Shows less arks and dirt I believe.
