Same topic, but I'd like a little advice on what to do here...

I just dug up a Rose Lily Bulb that I had started indoors months ago, and all of the other 40+ bulbs I had started indoors, have already sprouted and been transplanted outside.

Well, I noticed that there was one very small grass blade like growth coming out of the 6" starting pot, so I decided to dig it up, carefully keeping the small green growth intact.

Here's what I found...

Apparently, a few of the outer scales had rotted and created mini bulblets, and one of them had leafed out. I'm assuming it leafed out since the bulb itself had not bloomed, nor sprouted... Should I just leave this bulb alone in the pot, and come winter, just keep it in the garage to chill until next season? Or separate the little bulbs after they leaf out and go from there?

I'm new to scaling lilies BTW...

Any help? A lot of my small bulbs are getting some good size roots now.

Just curious on what I should do now... Pot them up and put them in cold storage or keep the whole bag in cold storage and then pot them up after cold storage....

I have scaled mine, & when they formed bulbs I just planted them in a flower bed. I did put them in a slightly shaded spot where I could remember to water when the weather was dry. I'm in zone 6 b, so it may depend on where you are located. Check this site

Nancy, did you break them off from the scales or did you plant the whole thing, scales and all.

Did they leaf out that year or they just wsitied till next season naturally.
