They do look pretty sad. If the crowns are at all sound, there certainly is a chance. If not, you may be able to salvage a leaf to root. Time will tell!

Thanks Terri. When I was removing the old soil, the crowns looked ok. They were still firm. I've never had luck with rooting AV leaves. They would develop roots but that was it.

Don't give up on rooting leaves. It sometimes takes awhile after a leaf has rooted for it to produce a baby plant. . . a month or two isn't uncommon & if the leaf is older, it may take even longer. Some growers have waited nearly a year, but by that time, I'm afraid it would be gone from my house!

Wow a year!? I'm not that patient lol. I hope I'm successful with at least one leaf?

The plant on the left looks like it has a sucker. The look salvageable to me, just in need of some TLC. Is this the before photo?

That's good news Nicola. I'm keeping my eye on them everyday. The photo is an after photo, I cut off a few more leaves afterwards because they were bent.

Well everyone,both plants died. I was glad I at least gave them a chance but they were in terrible condition to begin with.

I used to have 4 a few years ago, but one by one they died. I guess African violets just don't like me?

I think my issue was watering. A lot of plants I pamper and I've killed quite a few to overwatering. I was thinking of trying one again but I'm not completely sure. I know when I go in Lowes I'm so tempted to buy one but then I think of the previous ones I had and I chicken out.
