Hi all,

I have 4 hanging Boston ferns on my 7b/8A porch. One gets ideal morning sun, the others are on the south side but are far enough under the eaves to get mostly strong in direct light. They aren't dying but they aren't doing as well as I had hoped. I water them when the pot feels light.

They are in the pots they came in pictures above. Should I change them?

My neighbor has one in a regular pot with a "normal" attached saucer sitting in a container. She waters it liberally, leaving several inches of water in the container. It is up over the saucer lip a few inches bit well below the top of the pot. It's glorious! I would have thought it might get water logged like that. I am asking because I will be gone for a few weeks and can leave mine in containers with several inches of water. It's humid here, so while I am sure that's part of it, I don't think it's the whole story.

Also next year, I was thinking about getting Macho Ferns instead. It seems like they take a little more sun?
