Yes, that had been my plan for it before I read it gets 3-4' tall. I do think there are varieties of Amaranthus that work in hanging baskets, though.

I love this plant, you just need the perfect place to site it so it blends with other flowers in that area. I grew one years ago and would like to again, but don't have a spot for it (yet):)

I grew it in a large pot outdoors last year, and it was lovely, growing to be about 2 feet tall. This year, I replanted it in the same pot, with approximately the same result. I also planted a clump of about 5 plants in the flower garden proper. Those plants have grown taller than I am. I am 5'4''. Being root bound must make for miniatures.

I have noticed something this year that I did not see last year. One of the plants in the pot and two of the plants in the garden have ONE snowy white cluster, with the rest being crimson. Have any of you experienced that? Any idea or theory about what the significance might be?

You are right in supposing I have not totally changed the soil in my pot. I did add some compost from my outside compost bin and from my indoor vermiculture bin. I water occasionally with worm tea as well, but I guess it is not enough.
