Looks like your bed is a king and your bedding a queen. When you put on a bed skirt you will have a gap between the current bedding and a bed skirt. I would use the current bedding to make a headboard with plywood and batting; this is a beginner project, when you google it you'll find many web sites with how to. It should look like the headboard below. You'll also see where the bed skirt starts below the mattress. Get another bed set printed with purple and gray. The pattern in the rug is not very strong so you can use a printed bed set.

Move your dresser where your chest of drawers are or on the wall by the bathroom and put up beautiful curtains, you can use a small print,stripe or solid and set a nice chair in the corner by the window.
