I've grown sunflowers from seed and pots indoors with a lot of western sun exposure (or so i thought) but the stems are really tall and skinny and weak. They also have very small and very few leaves. I started one seed in a pot with eastern sun exposure and the stem is very thick with larger and more leaves but it still doesn't look like the sunflowers you usually see with a bunch of large, thick, dark leaves. Any advice?
