Tracy, it would be wonderful if you could visit Ken Wall's place, but I am not sure where his place is (location in Florida). He is a very well known hybridized and he made available the True Socotranum seeds, Arabicums dwarf Soodah and dbl. Purple seeds through a group I belong to.

Thanks Rick, I was able to get in touch with Wild Bills Botanicals and we made an appointment to visit on Wednesday. They specialize in Plumeria and Adeniums so it should be a fun trip.

Thanks Lonnie, not sure if you can tell there are 3 plants in that pot. There was such a huge selection that it was difficult to choose just a few. We have a couple more nurseries to visit so I will post again after we visit Wild Bill's Botanicals.

We have been having so much fun. We have one more stop tomorrow before I have to head back on Thursday. Did some repotting today but I am unsure about the plant on the right. I'm afraid there are too many roots exposed. Any input would be appreciated.

My mom picked up the variegated Hoya yesterday , she has great taste.

Tracy, I think the way you have it staged is good. Just leace the roots for now or trim off. Once the exposed area becomes acclimated to sunlight, it will will be fine.

We had our last stop today, I picked up a small seedling showing some signs of variegation. I also picked up another Adenium, not 100% sure if it is an obesum. The owner called it a Cherry since the leaves are more red colored. It is a little spindley however I couldn't pass up the uniqueness of the leaves. Has anyone ever seen one with redder leaves?

These came from Wild Bill Botanicals in Royal Palm. The owner, Bill, passed away last year so his daughter is now running the nursery. It is at a residence and open by appointment only. The selection was not as vast as Lucky Sumo. There were a great deal of Plumeria available.

I am heading home tomorrow, the car is going to be jam packed with Adeniums.

There was some shown in the Adenium group a few years ago named 'Nila Kaan'.

Thanks, I do love the red leaves on this Adenium. Wild Bill's had 2 other red leaves, one the same size as mine and another that was one size larger than this. I was unloading the car with all my prize plants and my dear ex-husband says to me "did you know that they are all the same? Why are all your plants the same?" I had to roll my eyes and shake my head and tell him that perhaps to the untrained eye they may appear that way, now go away!

Kanjana yellow, the flower is blurry but not much to look at. I mistakenly sprayed the flower when I was treating the plants for caterpillars and it turned crispy.

Innocent A. obesum, a gift from my aunt Judy. The flowers are actually light pink, but I removed them for the ride home since they were droopy.

I must say of all the places I visited on my trip, I absolutely love Lucky Sumo and recommend it to all of my DR friends. The drive was so worth it! The heat was wretched hovering around 100 F with unbelievable humidity, next visit I promise images of the nursery.

This is one that Durham sold at a plant show that my mom and aunt picked up. It has been at my parents house for months until now. Once it finishes blooming I am going to prune some of the heavier branches back.

Picked up a variegated seedling at Wild Bills, I am hopeful that it could maintain the unique creamy veining leaf patterns.

You have so many beauties. Your favorite gnarly caudex...I really like the branching pattern. Someone knew what they were doing when pruning. And the canopy kind of extends/mimics the pattern of the caudex...you know what I mean?

The large caudexes on the others...if they were mine, I would remove all the finer roots growing from and around the top of the caudex so that its beauty is better displayed. Again, only if they were mine.

BTW, where's the workbench you had told me about?

Thank you, Kadie. I too love the branching pattern on that plant. This plant seems complete to me. Some of the others I chose specifically for their caudex and have great plans for them. I need to find pots that are perfect for each plant. I did get several on my trip but not enough for all of them. Thanks for your input. I also need a place to put them that they will be secure.

The workbench is in my shed, I bought a can of non-toxic sealant that I need to coat it with before moving it out into the weather. I just finished gathering supplies for that project before I drove to Florida. Thank you for the reminder! Once I have it moved outside I will share some images on the board.

I hope you don't mind, I'd like to give input about the one from Durham's: I'm not sure the new vase/pot is right for the plant...somehow, to me, there's something off-balance there. Of course, I don't know that you already plan to do something further with the plant once it's settled? Just my own inexperienced view.

Thank you for the input. I agree that the Durham plant is not finished. It was buried deep and the caudex completely hidden from view in a gallon pot. I raised it and there are tons of roots at the top. I cut many of them off but feared butchering it before giving it some exposure to the sun. Also, it kept tipping over (with the help of my parent's dog, Sophie) so I added some coir to the top to pack it in tightly for the ride home. Once I get some of the weight off of the top, I can remove some of the soil that is packed in for stability.

I would like to find a pot that is a little deeper for this one. What do you think?

So after looking at the Durham plant some more, I am thinking that the caudex will not be catching any sun until I prune this plant. I am considering sacrificing the remaining blooms to give it a good pruning. The season will be over soon and my best opportunity to prune will be gone.

So I think I want to put these two plants into these two pots. The double plant I am concerned that the pot may not be big enough for the plant to grow. Thoughts?

My Home Depot red DR. I am going to lift it a bit in the pot as I wet down the potting soil.

The caudex and roots were very lateral in the old pot. And all the growth to one side.

I might need to adjust its position in the pot.

If it were my plant...I would plant in the same lateral position and in a wide, shallow pot. Leave half of the caudex exposed. This would make an interesting bonsai form. IMHO. Keep it in light shade for about 5 days, then gradually increase sunlight exposure.

Awesome finds for everyone. Tracy, I would sort of be inclined to leave the two together. I kind of actually like that. But wish the tops were growing more outward from each other to give a better balance. It just reminds me of trees in the forest that grow side by side. Like a deep connection twins often have with each other.
Either way it's a tough call. Wonder if the blooms would compliment each other.

Thanks, Kirk. I am definitely keeping the two plants together. I am not 100% decided on which pot I want to use. I agree it would be cool if the foliage were more prominent but I am hopeful that I can train the plants to produce branches. I love your twins analogy, this is how I felt when I first laid eyes on the Adenium duo.

Thanks Kadie. I like that plant. I think I will let it do that. I have it sei a little deeper in the pot. I need to find a suitable pot. Maybe an azalea pot next time I'm out. I like terra cotta pots.

I need to train or prune the backside as it looks like it was flat against the wall. From the front the branches are nice. And I live the red blossom.

I looked at my original pink DR, that I pruned a few weeks ago. She has lovely tiny flower buds., amongst lots of new growth. Yippee.

You're welcome, Cindi. I wouldn't prune at this time. The roots need time to adjust and produce more; besides, the stems on the backside will get sunlight now so there should be new branches growing on that side soon. I look forward to seeing your flower buds open!

Thanks Kadie. That's what I was thinking. I have the back turned to the light. We haven't had so much sun this past week. Some hazy days and thunderstorms. It's raining now, but we really have not had a lot of rain this month. I have to water frequently.

I think I'll pot the twins plant this weekend and try pruning some of the deadish looking parts of the top off. Is it too late in the season to consider whacking the tops off?
