What is the average regeneration rate for this kind of palm?

You're probably looking at a year or 2.

If it is a S. minor and if your growing season is long and if it can put a couple fronds out this year there is a chance, be it very slim it could flower next year. But first I would suggest you take a peek at this link and when a frond does emerges decide if you were sold a S. minor or a S. mexicana. Until today I thought I had 3 beautiful S. minor palms in my pool landscape but after finding this link today I'm fairly certain I do not. S. minor can be either trunkless or with a short trunk. One of the telling factors though is the frond. Unlike a S.minor mine have a central rib that nearly runs the entire leaf. Not what I bought but they're healthy, massive and growing. The very tip top of the tallest frond is over 9' tall yet the trunk is less than 3'

If you have a true S. palmetto (this link) it will probably be a verrry long time.

My 24 year old S. Palmetto flowered for the first time 2 years ago. I know it is 24 years old because I started it from seed. If yours IS a S. Palmetto, you will be waiting many, many years! I am in Zone 8a - if yours survives this winter in 7a..it may take even longer for yours to flower (shorter growing season).

How old do you think this palm is?

@gregplantaine7(7a) The one in YOUR picture looks about 2 - 4 years old if it was grown in a warm place. You said this is in zone 7a?

A lot of people believe in winter pruning for colder zones, but please do not prune them that far back unless you have a very good reason to, because it can severely weaken the palm, especially in colder zones.

Also, how is your palm doing? From what I understand, zone 7a is a colder zone for palm trees, and they (naturally) do not do so well in colder climates.

These are 4-year old Sabal palmettos.

The palm tree in my first post is what I received so I did no pruning when I got it. It is wrapped in burlap at the moment so I will update when I take it off.

I have had it protected even before the snowstorm. I removed the protection two days ago.
