Most definetly tile

First -- what do you want to walk and stand on in the kitchen? Tile can be hard on your feet/legs/back if you typically stand barefoot on it a lot. Laminate will be easier as wood (even laminate) gives a little.

I put engineered hardwood in my kitchen (older adult, no kids, no pets) because the kitchen/dining room runs right into foyer/living room. I've had both tile and hardwood. Both have advantages ...but go for the FEEL you prefer as you will spend a lot of time on your feet in the kitchen -- you'll break fewer dropped dishes/glasses on laminate, but you have to mop up spills sooner than on tile (but not grout lines on laminate!)

We have tile and neither of us have ever noticed that it is hard on our legs or back. But then we have a lot of area and throw rugs to soften it for standing at the sink and stove, and because it's slippery for the dogs.

My kitchen and I absolutely love it! I don't find it hard on the legs or back. On a normal day to day basis I keep a throw rug near the sink, in case when I'm washing dishes I would spill some water . It's been installed for ten years and it's still
As nice as the day it got installed, which is surprising cause with 5 people in the house the kitchen is a super high traffic area!
