Hi Tracy, thanks for the welcome back lol. Yes they are all from seed. We never see them in the shops here in UK so seeds are the easiest option, unfortunately whatever the label says they are usually pink. I've had four flower, three pink and one red. Saying that, I was just so delighted to get flowers. lonnie, I hope the little one keeps its variagation, it would make a lovely adult plant so fingers crossed

Thanks Rick, am learning to cope as best I can, family keep me going, as does work...and my plants of course :) Weather has 'been' good, cooler and wetter at the moment. Got to go, up in 7hrs for work : /

Hi Gill, firstly may I say how sorry I am to hear about the loss of your husband. Very dark days for you but I hope with time, things will get a bit easier for you. Be kind to yourself.

You have a lovely greenhouse there and lots of interesting plants. Great fun aren't they? Always a little surprise appearing now and then. These RSM are a horror. I'm forever sweeping down my shelving to try and keep the rotters at bay. What is the actual Bayer spray you use? I've had a Doff one that wasn't much use. Point of interest for you. Lidl was selling packs of coconut soil and coconut husks this year. I bought some and planted some of my DR in just the husks and they seem to like it. I wish I had bought loads as it was very cheap but it seems to have gone from the shelves now. Is Brian still popping in?

Averil, hi there, yes there are certainly bad days at the moment, hopefully I will learn how to cope better.

Here is the product I like to use, in fact I just checked out some crassula on the kitchen windowsill and found an infestation of pesky mealy bugs. They have just had a good squirt of it.....

I would be lost without the g/h, it's one that John and I built ourselves a few years ago after our aluminium one blew away, literally, in a storm. We live in a very windy spot and suffer badly. I like to grow unusual things, for example some of my palms are tender and live inside the g/h during winter. I have grown lots of them from seed collected on holidays with John so they are very precious to me. I seem to be attracted to the unusual, hence my interest in Adeniums. John used to laugh (in an nice way of course!) at my efforts to grow things that were completely out of our zone. I wish he could see my DR's in bud now. I definitely have flowers to come on one of my own plants :))))

I have not seen Brian around for quite some time. I will have to fire the laptop up and see if his email address is still on it. I hope he is OK.

Lidl is not in my immediate area, there is one but I don't travel that way very often so have only called in once several years ago. I will have to check out Aldi as I have found they can often have similar products around the same time. Thanks for the heads up. I have never used it before but have read about its merits on the forums lately.

Averil, welcome back. Living in UK, I think your seed-grown Adeniums are quite an achievement. They look great. :-) I think, I need a GH (or something equivalent) myself - or at least big south-facing windows. ;-)

Welcome back Averil! Your plants look fantastic. Those pesky red spider mites are a pain for sure. They seem to love my brugmansias and I am always fighting to keep them at bay.

Gill, thanks for the pic. I ordered some Bayer spray on line. Not the same one but apparently it kills RSM. I will see how I get on. If it's no good I will order the same as yours. I defoliated most of my plants yesterday and gave them a spray, hopefully it works.

Hi Martin and Ladylotus, thanks for your kind comments. My plants spend summer(well the odd day that we get any sun lol) in the g/h and indoors on South facing windows in the winter where they get ignored till about Feb.. Lotus I have two Brugs which are outside. Mine aren't bothered by RSM but the leaves get eaten into a ragged mess ever year. Such a shame but hey ho
