It's not a dreaded virus. Most figs have it. It just makes the leaves a little ugly, but it will not kill your tree. Fig Mosaic Virus is mainly a problem in cold zones. Warm zones handle it well.

Nurseries should not be selling sick trees. Unless they told you ahead and you agreed, or you saw the actual tree before you purchased.

MW is very common, no reason that you should not have a healthy plant. It may pass the virus to your other plants if there are fig mites, and may create a cocktail that causes your plants to decline and die.

Alot of effort has been put in over the years to make FMV seem OK to the general public. WHY ARE PEOPLE DEFENDING A VIRUS?

Trevor as your plant ages it may or may not look better with time but the virus once
there will always be there .
It may perish or thrive as i have seen and experienced with many different types and have been eating figs since the 1960s .

Some of my best tasting types have it looked similar to yours early but display much less nowadays
such as Madeira, Col de Dame Noir etc and grow and produce well and i
have pictures to prove that.

Its your plant and your choice what to do with it.
