Plumeria cutting leafing out?

I bought and planted a plumeria cutting a little over a week ago. I was very happy with it as it had some little leaves (not full leaves, I'm talking tiny spikes) and was very thick and healthy. Well, I've left it on a heating pad for the past week and when I checked today one of the leaves has grown about half an inch and is unfolding. Normally I would dig it up and check to see if it's rooted, but I've destroyed some cuttings in the past with that and don't want to do it again. I've tugged upwards on it and get a bit of resistance. Could it have rooted this fast? It was dipped in rooting hormone by the seller but I didn't notice anything in the way of roots when I planted it. Could I have gotten really lucky with this cutting or am I getting overexcited?
