Curb Appeal

I have a small hill on the left side of the driveway that was just bare (with the exception of a few hydrangeas on the top).
This spring I have planted some perrenials: lillies, sages and ornamental grasses with hope that it would look better and have less maintenance. The photo shows my plants after 4months. It looks somewhat nicer but there are still lots of weeds that show through and it is rather hard to maintain.
Is there something else I could do to make it better and easier on my back? This area gets about 4-6 hours of sun, mostly before 4pm. Thanks for your input!
