We plan to send invitations to Master Gardener associations and garden clubs in the area, so maybe we can get some other people involved. Would you be interested in having a speaker. maybe about container gardening or ferns or some other gardening topic? The swap is still on. You are the only one who has contacted me about a trade. I'm bringing you the pot of x amarcrinum from the Spring swap and a rooted 'Pink Perfektion' brugmansia. Let me know if you want anything else. I'm REALLY cutting back, as I have too much to care for already. I don't mind trading for rare or specialty plants, but prefer things on my "non-plant" list - things that are oblivious to heat & cold, downpours or droughts; things that don't need fed, watered, etc. ;-)

Yep, the swap is still on. I also am just going to post anything to trade here, and in particular would like to get Lindera benzoin, AKA spicebush. I do not have much to trade - I have been too ill to do much this summer. I do have some seedling caudiciforms, including Adenium obesums and some unusual cucurbits. Those cucurbirts do not look like much right now, admittedly.

Like Nelson, I'm rethinking my garden. This was a brutal summer and despite my best efforts my soil is very dry and many plants look unhappy. I am dividing the plants that came through everything well and planting sweeps of them. This way I hope my garden will look fuller. Some of the mums I got for a dollar last year are spectacular right now and are quit compact without pinching. I am also adding a lot of organic matter to the soil. So this year Im looking for sun or shade plants that can survive and thrive, and of course, more organic matter. My house plants are thriving so I'm thinking of bringing some of those to the swap. I will take stock and update my list soon. Susan

Remember that any extra plants or larger pots you want to get rid of can be donated to the Master Gardener plant sale. ;-)

We're promoting the swap through Master Gardener circles and a couple of garden clubs. If we can get a few more people this year, maybe the MGs will keep hosting it and get it to grow.

What do you think about everyone just bringing a sack lunch? There will be tables where we can eat and a McDonalds nearby if you don't want to bring something from home.

In that stretch, it is both 278 and 431. as well as 3200 W. Meighan Blvd.! If coming from the west, from I-59, you will be turning right, immediately past some railroad tracks. Non-traditional church (Daystar) immediately before the turnoff. Etowah County School Board and Extension Center are at the front of the property, we are at the back.

Kenneth what time does the swap start???? Also I think a sack lunch might be easier for everyone as they can bring what they like and less worry about who likes what kind of food and hunting down a restaurant

, just my thoughts on it.

The formal starting time is 10 AM but I plan to have the gates open at least by 9:30.. I think we are going to have a divided opinion on the matter of lunch. The last I heard, the high will be 70, a bit cool for eating outdoors.

We do have tables set up in our building. It will be open on one side and wouldn't be heated, but would be out of the wind if that's a problem. If it's not windy, we can always move the tables out into the sun. Wear a jacket and warm pants and it should be lovely.
