Need Landscaping Ideas, Please!

Need advice on how to improve our front yard. There is a small hill between the mail box and the garage where I have just planted a few perennials: lilies, coreopsis, sages and different kinds of ornamental grasses. There are a lot of spaces in between them at this point and the weeds seem to grow taller than the flowers! Is there an easier way to landscape this area for a maintenance free yard? I thought I picked the right kind of plants but it just does not seem right. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks!

Can see why you are frustrated...there are several changes I can recommend ...first the space would benefit by choosing larger scale plantings...grasses the grow to 2 or 3 feet tall... shrubs that will mature to 5 or 6 feet... Choose drought resistant plants and space them well to allow room when they have reached maturity...lay weed cloth over the bare spaces and cover with mulch....pea gravel or stones...this will eliminate the weeds and supply definition to your plantings...allow spaces in between for flowering annuals in big pots for color spring thru fall...

Perhaps condense all your smaller grasses along the driveway to continue the border started along the steps... To define and add drama
