Does this Shadow Storm have issues with etching or staining?

As with any white stone, natural or quartz, there could be issues with "strong stainers"...those like red wine and mustard. White quartz (man made) is not totally impervious to these same items. So there is always at least a small caution. If you have small children, lots of "really fun" dinner parties with your red wine drinking friends, be cautious. Not the hang out in the kitchen all night not enjoying your friends so you can wipe up after them...but just be sensible. If you head into the kitchen for your own glass, maybe take a quick look, and wipe it down...just don't take it for granted.

This is also why it is important to keep your counter material sealed, if you have natural stone tops of any kind. Sealing once a year is minimum for any stone...if you have a white stone, you should look at doing more than once, following the manufacturer's recommendation of the sealant you use. Or you could get it professionally sealed with a 15-year product...there are a few of them on the market, the best ones are typically provided by the counter top fabricator.

Thanks Marilyn for the fast response. The stone installer has included a 25 year sealer in their quote. i think the sealer is a DuPont product. I have been asking several stone yards for a white stone for several weeks and no one mentioned this until i walked into a yard yesterday and saw this stone for the first time. I am so in love with it as it is really close to the marble I love but can't accept the maintenance of marble. I had assumed i needed to settle for a marble lookalike quartz to get anything near the look of marble but they just don't hit the mark. if red wine and mustard are the only real issues, i may jump for it. As a huge bonus, it is actually the cheapest counter top i have priced!!

Double win! It's a beautiful countertop. It's hard to find white/light countertops that are durabile and cost effective. To get the look of marble, quartzite is a great alternative. What stone yard did you get the quartzite from in Nashville? I have looked at a few , but have not found any as beautiful as these in these in Shadow Storm.

This looks like our granite. I am wondering if it is shadow storm as well. We are trying to figure out if it is quartzite, granite or marble for care purposes. What is this?
