Those are Robust clumping bamboos, Fargesia robusta. Clumping bamboos are great because you don't need to worry about invasive roots that you'd have with running bamboos.

You're welcome! Yeah definitely consult with your local bamboo folks- they can tell you which clumping types are best in your climate (we're in Oregon)... also the clumping types do tend to prefer some afternoon shade, especially in hot climates like yours. Good luck!
