Forgot to mention that I planted irises behind them, so that I would have spring & summer blooms. Not sure if they will be ok there either as I have no idea what I'm doing! Thinking I will move the day lilies...

The planting bed is super narrow. A wider bed would give you more options. The standard width recommended for a foundation bed is at least 1/3 the height of the home. A wider bed allows for layers of plants --tallest towards the back, medium in front of that, short/ground cover at the front.

Thanks for commenting hoovb. If I widen it, what else should I add? I kind of want to keep it as more of a lily bed, but wouldn't mind having some trellises for the background.

Lilies planted there will likely be tall and spindly, and will lean away from the house in a very unsightly manner. You will need something like a trellis (or numerous stakes) to keep them from flopping over onto the lawn.

It looks like you have Stella DeOro daylilies there and they will do fine with that much sun. I have them in different places with different sun exposure from full sun to as much sun as you have and they do fine but flower better with more sun. If you widen the bed--I suggest you triple it or more-- you could move them toward the front of the bed and they would get more sun because they wouldn't be as shaded by the house. Then you can plant shade tolerant plants behind-- things like hosta and ferns and coleus
