This is my "Triple Twilight" .

This is the second year now that this plant has bloomed for me. After hearing/reading what my Auzzie friends had stated about putting the plant in shade, but well lighted area just as blooms where ready to open to have the dark color more prominent. I tried it this year.

This was last year's bloom. I really like this one also.

It could be a number of things which create these changes, but I have heard many of the experts speak of humidity, light, etc.

Yes, quite a difference when they get partial shade...goes back to their origins as tropicals (where they received shade from lush tropical trees) before earth's evolution (and extinction of dinosaurs) to arid desert climates at some point. Such wonderful plants...adaptive to cultural manipulations! Love them!

Kadie, You know. When I saw Double Waterfall for the first time, it Oh My Gosh!, Can this be real!, Man it's beautiful!. First Adenium bloom on a tree I ever had. The photo does not really do it justice. It has a little bit of yellow in the center and the red/pink, just a touch darker. Nice tight bloom.

Kirk, I want to do a graft of the Triple Twilight, but every branch has blooms coming and I am not sure that I want to cut any off of it. May not be a good time to graft if I leave it too long. Dilemma.

Another bloom today from a tree of Rinoa's.

This is "Aurum Crown". It is more yellow, but I did not change with enhancements, as it did not come close to actual color. First time blooming and I know it will be deeper yellow on next bloom cycle.

Sounds like a great problem to have, Rick. Keep the pictures coming! Whether you realize it or not, the wealth of knowledge you spew on this forum is great. I'm filing away the tidbit about moving plants into shade once the blooms are set.

Rick, I hate it when the color from camera total different than the bloom itself. The real bloom's color always deeper, I am sure. The Aurum Crown is beautiful, (so many layers.)

Beautiful flower photos Rick. However, my heart pitters patters a bit faster with those singles. That beautiful white with the large green throat is impressive. I sure wish you knew the name of that one. Gorgeous as are the doubles, triples. Thank you for sharing.

This bloom is the second of a seed packet of same variant. They are not close to the same of the photo of parent trees, but it is a good reference.

This is the second seedling.

Makes me think I need to get more seed from Ko & Rinoa of the more recent and probably more generically close possibilities.

Rick, do you happen to keep a log of things like germination rates, flower color and likeness to parent?

Nicholas, I have a log of germination percentages on most. I have not had enough bloom from the same seed lot to compare with each other. Only a few so far have had a lot of similarities.

Many of my seedlings from Rinoa and Ko are not old enough for my growing length of season to bloom. Hopefully next year? The blooms I have seen from many people with seed hybrids of Rinoa's and Ko's have been very positive.

Rick I am excited at the notion that you will be choosing new seeds to sow. While this pink is pretty, I know there are many triples out there with your name all over them. Can't wait to see what you select to sow next. Hopefully you will document the process with many photos! I am now thinking about locating some hybrid seeds after seeing Pagan's results. Isn't it wonderful to think about the possibilities?

Tracy, I did get some seeds of Emerald Bracelet, Gold Bracelet & KHZ from Thailand last year after seeing Mike's plants.

Just got note from N.R.Sundaram from India. Abenaadeniums.com and he has some very interesting seeds available. He is well known and one that many go to, to ask for identification of Adeniums. He has sent me some really nice seeds. Very well respected.

The tree which you mention was labeled "Dang U Thai".

Not it? I believe they come from Warunee, so I checked her site out.

Hi Marie, sorry for the confusion. The bloom I have is the white w green throat. The Tag said Dang U Thai. I looked it up and saw that it definitely was not labeled correctly.

It is very elegant, Rick. I have a double that blooms the same colors (white with greenish throat) but the single kind of looks better. Less cluttered. I got my plant from adeniumrose.com and they labeled it Coco Lee, I think. It only ever blooms indoors in late autumn to early winter. How weird is that!

We always seem to lose a few, don't we. I hate it, especially if it is one of my favorites.

This is a first bloom for me on this one (Capricorn). I have found for myself, that I need to get trees from Rinoa or elsewhere in my early spring and they come along really well. Have ordered in the late summer and fall. They just sit there and do not really thrive, so for me, just not worth it at that time of year.

Rick, I just realized I can't message you and didn't want to create a whole new thread just to ask this question. So I hope you don't mind me asking here.

I read that there is a risk with the bark component of gritty mix in high humidity areas. Some say it will start to grow fungus and you should use a non-organic replacement. Have you ever heard of this and if so do you possibly know what it can be replaced with?

I have not read this Nicholas, but then that does not mean it is not true.

Are you speaking of the Fir Bark or Coconut Husk Chunks?

I know that Laura uses them where she resides. In Australia they use Quincan Gravel (I believe a pumice type substrate), Coarse river sand and composted chock poo.

Many of the Thai growers will use Peanut husks or rice hulls.

Be worth looking into. How about I ask a few of the people I know and I will let you know what they say?

Thank you Rick, I think it was refering to Pine / Fir bark mainly. Coconut I think is resistant to fungus so maybe that would be a better way to go.

Some lovely flowers there Rick, I particularly like the triple twilight, beautiful marking and colour. Do you have many that are fragrant and is it a strong smell, such a shame that loads of varieties are not fragrant, but I guess they make up for that in looks :)

Hi! can anyone tell me how to stop those wild grass growing on the flowers pot and not harming the adenium plants. Lately there are a lots of grasses growing on my flowers pots soil. Is there any chemical to stop that instead of taking it out by hands. Please help.

Chris, I do not have this problem with my Adenium pots, but have had with others. Unless you have a large number of plants. I think hand weeding them is better, rather than using a Herbicide. May cause harm to your Adeniums and systemics will effect beneficial insects.

Sorry, I try not to use much in the way of Pesticides, but sometimes it is necessary.

Do the Peticides can stop the grasses from growing on my pot soil?

Chris - no it won't, sadly this is one aspect of nature us plant growers have to contend with. My advise would be just to remove any grass by hand once it's big enough and the important bit is make sure you pull the root out, if not you are merely cutting the grass, and we'll all know what happens after grass is cut.......it grows back :)

Chances are you will get more popping up here andthere but I would rather pull it out manually rather than using pesticides that may do more him than good, as previously mentioned by killing off the beneficial insects

Nature is wonderful although it does give us extra work to do at times lol
