Multiple focal point

I don't know which focal point to highlight. It's a small house so the living room serves as tv and sitting area. It seems like the big window takes over. What should I do to make it look better??

I agree that right now the window is overpowering the FP, but I think the way around it would be to draw attention to the FP. I would add some art above FP, paint walls a blue grey, and change curtains to some that are same shade as walls so they blend in.

Lining the furniture against the walls makes it look more narrow and long. If you want to send dimensions with some details on doors, entryways and any other details I will do a floor plan for you. Also any other furniture in the room. Or another photo taken from the FP end.

I suggest you resurface the fireplace. It competes with the window and it is the item that overpowers the room. The walls need a color such as a light blue gray to coordinate with all the dark furniture & flooring. Right now the walls are harsh.

I agree marlene, take down those red curtains and hang some that blend into the paint color. Also move the 3 seater down closer to the window in front of TV and take recliner out of corner and angle it on the other end of sofa facing TV and FP. Move end table between them and get a floor lamp for curtain end of sofa.

Invest in a longer TV console, that one is too short or if it is longer move it so TV is in the middle of it.

I would not suggest gray walls. The room will look depressing. I think a warm yellow will help make the room look cheery and look wonderful with the carpet. I agree however then the draperies should blend in with the wall color so they disappear. Then add a glass top coffee table. And then some personal art on the walls will make the room have personality.
