My wife and I will be in Houston/Galveston area the first week of August and wanted to check them out.

Lonnie, no, Joseph has very few simple color, pink, red, but I am not even sure they have some now. Call them up. Send me email about the cuttings.

Sorry for the off-topic interruption, Marie and Lonnoie, but I consider you an expert when it comes to COTs. Because of your pictures, I got myself a COT while in Houston last summer. While yours seem to be full of blooms, mine is full of lush green leaves! I'll go snap a picture in a bit. So, what's the secret to getting more blooms? It's getting morning sunlight until 2 pm everyday. I water every other day.

The seedling from your seeds didn't make it through the winter (left in unheated garage), so I started the remaining seeds this summer. This is what they look like two months later:

I will bring them inside the house this summer.

Kachana, COT likes acidic soil (rose soil is best, add sand), full sun, and patient. That is all. I have so many, and some will not bloom at all.

Thanks, Marie. The leaves curl if I leave it under the sun all day, that's why I only give it morning sun. Should I ignore that and let it deal with full day sun?

Full sun is best for COT and DR.

Some years ago someone traded her tiny little COT that had pink flowers for amaryllis from me. I really wasn't very impressed with it, plus it looked dangerous with all those thorns so gave it away. But now seeing here that they come in different colors and shapes, I am beginning to appreciate them. Hope I don't become addicted to them too!

Kachana, I'm no expert on anything. Maire is though. I'm just getting started with COT. I mainly have plumeria, and adenium. Great looking seedlings too. Congrats!

Where did you find your COT in the DFW area?

I haven't found any here yet. BTW, I live South of Ft. Worth in Burleson, but work in Grand Prairie.

the only COT I have was bought from an Asian grocery store in Houston for $6. A few weeks ago, I saw a bunch at a Vietnamese grocery store here in Carrollton for $15 each. They were pretty small, and the blooms were very similar to the one I already have, so I didn't get any. Next time I head that way, I'll check to see if they have new inventory in.

Beside that grocery store, I do not know where to find COTs though. Actually, I'll ask the store manager for the nursery that they use.
