Great photos Annette! Your garden is way ahead of mine as usual. I am thinking that it is because your nights are warmer than mine. For example, it is 57 F in Nanaimo right now and 47 F here which is a common nighttime temperature.

Did you also grow Tennessee Cutshort? I have a trellis of each. One obvious difference so far is that the foliage on Frank Barnett Cutshort is a lot more dense. This is the first time I have grown a true cutshort bean. The beans on both trellises are a couple inches long.- Dick

Yes I'm growing Tennessee Cutshorts (planted a little later) in another part of the garden but they're way behind, unfortunately they're in the hottest spot in my garden and aren't liking it. I wasn't expecting the kind of summer we're having, if I had only known I would have planted limas there. I was hoping to do a comparison of the two but FB is going to be finished before TC starts producing,. Oh well there's always next year.

I staggered my planting this year hoping the beans wouldn't all come ripe at the same time, I don't freeze, we only eat fresh so this is working well for me so far.

A little update, most of the pods have dried on the vine this is what they look like, pods crispy dry and true cutshort seed.

a few more to go and I can pull the pole. Didn't get all the bagging I wanted to do but then a lot of the beans have been flowering at different times so have my fingers crossed they're not going to cross. Lazy Wife is just starting to flower now, these are getting a few bags, just to be on the safe side.

I grew Frank Barnett Cutshort and Tennessee Cutshort side by side and TC was full a couple weeks earlier than FBC. Crazy summer with so many 90 F days but 45 F nights.

I grew Frank Barnett this summer, it was earlier than most and prolific, and easy to save the seed. I will grow it again.
