Need help choosing carpeting

Trying to find carpeting that will work all over my house. I have my mind set on patterned carpet. We have some oak wood floors that we will keep hardwood. Which of these looks best and will stand the test of time? Ignore the colors, these are just samples.

Standing the test of time is all about quality. Pick as good a quality carpet as you can afford, and the best carpet padding. As far as timeless design goes, all but the first one are timeless. The diamond pattern although pretty, is a bit trendy.

No, it just popped in my head, lol.

In all truth johann- I am contemplating the same choices as you. I have hardwood in some areas and was thinking of going with the patterned carpet in my great room. I just can't seem to pull the trigger. I guess I will know when it is right. BUT, asking how long diamonds will be in style? Who knows. The carpet industry will change that direction when it knows.

I personal would go with the last one on the left in a different color, but base it really on the weight/pile/ how close the fibers are.
