Ginger, from the time the first bud opens in good conditions the flowers should last several months. Peak flowering here is spring and they are tough.One specialist grower belongs to a few orchid societies and exhibits his plants at several shows. Shows are mostly held in shopping centres where the air is deadly dry. Four or five days in those places and blooms on many other types of orchids begin to fold.

It is summer there and perhaps the temps in a South Window are a bit high?

Thanks Arthurm2015 for your comments. It's still difficult for me to judge if the potting is dry especially when barks potting is light. I gave the watering since Monday, 5 days ago and I think the pot is dried out.

In fact, with our present warm weather, I am giving the watering twice a wk. Hope that is not overdoing it.

The flowering is probably over. Summer is good for the plants and they will grow new leaves, roots and probably flower again this coming winter. Water and fertilize.
