Our Fan Palm has been showing signs of damage at it's base. I suspect over time this Palm base has grown roots into and around a sprinkler head and possibly caused an underground leak.

In excessive heat, when the irrigation water contacted the base of the Palm, it may have caused this cracking at the base. I can isolate the line, remove the sprinkler head, but I am not sure if the Palm tree has already suffered too much damage. Tree above this damage appears to be fine, but I am concerned about base and root system. I'd appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.
