Dated picture taken of violet sollies to be put on 2015 disk at end of season.
thanks Martin whats your experience with growing these? Are they hardy? How's the taste?
binbin9,
for me easy plant to grow but not sure about anyone else as been growing fig plants a long time.
As for being hardy well i grow the plants in 30 g containers and during dormancy they go in attached garage.
Taste wise its a keeper.
As a side note i do not keep good figs for the work they need they must be better than just good but everyones palate is different.
Martin
I just picked up one of these and I've been doing some research. Apparently its a common variety in europe. Hardy down to -15 degrees.
binbn,
my hardy chicago has seen temps as low as -18 degrees but dies down to ground level last several seasons and grow back to produce.
So for example as i have hardy chicago also in 30 g container it does not get any damage
in garage during dormant period.
Not sure what would happen with violet sollies here inground .
