How about a sofa, love seat and chair. You want a place where you can stretch out and take a nap.

Sectionals are very hard to work around as you have a huge L in the middle of the room or jutting out into a walkway. Plus, for those of us who aren't extreme extroverts and want to be within 6" of someone, they get claustrophobic being trapped on one with 6 other people.

Loveseats are no better not too many people want to sit that close I still think a sofa and 2 comfy chairs are the best pieces to invest in or if you have the space 2 sofas and 2 chairs

gives you lots of ways of rearranging down the road.

If you have a big space consider two sofas and two recliners, or three sofas. As mentioned above sectionals are hard to work with, you can flip them one direction or another. With sofas and chairs you can move them in several different configurations and move them further apart or closer together. With sofas and chairs you can also move a chair into another room if you wish.
