Beadboard not sure

Do you think bead board would look odd? I am attaching copies of my granite, shelf for above my dish sink. I am doing a cream cabinet. My style is traditional with Hollywood glam mixed in. As of now I said no to beadboard behind the above sink shelves. It's weird because I like beadboard in the mudroom. But I think of it as country in the kitchen. There will be no beadboard as a backsplash

This is another possibility. Kilm beige. SW. With sw rain in my dining room. This rain color is throughout the granite. Love it. My favorite color and it is the color woven through my decorating. Oh you can see the crackle tile for main backsplash behind the blue swatch.

It would be so worth it to use that paint--when someone asks at the reveal, "What's the color?" to say 'Moose Mousse.' ;)

CRL. I plan to have barley twist legs on either side of a copper sink. I question the barley twist. But it is my absolute favorite! I love looking at it. There will be no fancy corbels in this kitchen. I do plan to use a version of these for my range hood.

What's the trantum glass in hemp tile for? I thought you were going with crackle tile? AND beadboard? really? And corbels and a copper sink and barley twist legs and that amazing but grand granite and... what else? Do you have all this stuff on a design board somewhere? Do you have all this stuff in real life and not just on pictures? How big of a room are you putting all this stuff into? OK, I don't want you mad at me so I'll stop now.

Do you have an inspiration pictures? or am I just missing something.

I am actually agreeing. BlFenton. The beadboard is not in my plans. After posting about the barley twist. I got to thinking. And googled pictures. I don't like the look. So tomorrow I will send an an email scratching the legs. The tantrum tile is for above my range. The kitchen is pretty spacious. And it opens into my family room. The whole space is 33x25. With additional space for my kitchen table.

I would still do the beadboard but go back to something blending with the cabinet color...Not the tans....... going for the texture of the wood as a subtle contrast, keep it light....the space is large......I'm one to mix things up, just depends on your preferences...it's a small detail, no right or wrong.

Herbflavor. Thank you! whatever backing it ends up being. It will be the cabinet color. Thank you.

You mentioned Hollywood glam and it can be gorgeous but I think restraint needs to be respected. You want to avoid the "little girl playing dress-up" look.

What do you have planned for hardware and lighting. I always envision sparkly lighting in Hollywood glam.

Okay that is too much for me!! Getting ready to post several pictures.

Beadboard does not speak "glam" to me, it says simple, farmhouse-y. I also think you have too many "look at me" elements if you add the beadboard. So my vote is "no". P.S. I would have voted no on the sink cabinet legs too if you hadn't already nixed it!

Thanks for the eye-candy. Viewed it quickly with my Sunday morning coffee. I have to admit that the chandelier in your posted photo really is glamorous.

The OP mentioned Hollywood glam, I was just following up the idea. But, mmmm, maybe for my next kitchen I'll add some dramatic bling.

Range wall with integrated refrigerator columns.

On the sink wall I did eliminate the panels in the arch The shelves will be 8 inches deep

There will be an island 10x5. With a prep sink.

Cabinet door. Not this cream though.

    Floor with my cabinet color

So far not much glam at all!!! LOL!'

these are different ideas I've had for light fixtures The empire chandeliers are nixed. But I will share all

This one I like But the wood bobbles are white wouldn't look good agains my cabinets b

I should mention. I will have two chandeliers hanging over the island. My ceiling is 12 ft high

Okay this is the kitchen table I am going to get.

This is the chandelier I am thinking about for family room

This one is for my dining room.

Have you considered chrome fixtures? That really says glam to me without being too out there! A little glimmer!

    gwlake thanked Amber

Also - your style seems more french country than glam, have you looked at that particular style? Love those chandies!!

    gwlake thanked Amber

Amber,. I agree. It does seem to have elements of French country. I guess I say glam because I love mirrored furniture and very tailored upholstered furniture. I don't do slip covered, and chipped stuff. I like some distressing. But not overkill. I have a tendency to to get really formal. I tried to create a more relaxing living space this time. I still will have a formal dining and a formal living room.

No chrome. It's not for me.

This pic is from the link I posted, and happens to be from Houzz. My ceilings are too low for any style of chandelier, so I don't have much input. I think this one is elegant and understated:

Love the floor and the granite together and the faucet as well. They really set one another off. The cabinets, I just don't know. With your cabinets your kitchen is going to be really brown so hopefully you like that colour. Have you considered the same colour of cabinet but without the glazing?

With the crackle tile and the tile behind the range and then the glazing on the cabinets I think you'll wind up with too many hard surfaces that also have an extra finish to them. Does that make sense? Glaze, plus crackle, plus sparkle (lighting), plus drama (granite), plus shiny (depending on hardware).

Consider leaving the cabinets plain and being the backdrop for everything else. Just a thought.

So Glam Country? ;) Wrought iron fixtures with crystalls, some sort of dark irridescent/reflexive backsplash, maybe? The higher contrast I think looks glam.

    gwlake thanked Amber

The cabinets will be ordered without glaze. If I want to to glass them, I can do so myself. The door isn't my cabinet color. It is the example of the door. My cabinet color is less yellow and not as dark. It is the sample piece of wood in the floor.

What about dark chocolate subway tile?!?

Amber,. You just nailed it. :). I need to decide on island chandeliers. I really wanted crystal hanging down. I thought about these also. I think the shell and clear bead ones are cool. But leaning transitional.

Show me a picture of the dark chocolate. That is really leaning out of my color palette.

I've never seen it before, was just thinking shiney!

Okay I did see this tile for backsplash. The hemp is my choice for above range. I have loved it for years and I love sparkle.

I am sharing this because I have pretty much the same furniture This is the look for my formal living

Amber. It is intriguing for sure. But my kitchen is set into a corner. I don't have direct sunlight. It maybe too dark.

French country all the way!!! Love it!

DO NOT feel obligated to take my suggestions! I am just randomly throwing things out on a whim! I wonder if maybe googling Shabby chic kitchen would get you more inspiration pics? I'm horrible at picturing things without seeing someone else do it. I love that behind the range backsplash and your granite is gorgeous ( and I'm not really a granite person ;) )

Maybe do that lighter bs you posted, or even pull a green from the range bs and do a back painted glass subway tile in that color?

ETA: in the pic it looks like a hint of green - is it like that in person?

These are a possibility for my island. I think these are in one your glitz pictures Amber.

The picture of the hemp doesn't look it. But it is actually chocolate and turquoise. The glass tile sounds cool. Going to google.

I don't feel obligated. I am appreciative of the help. I love talking about this stuff. :).

I loooooove that one!!! I love talking about it too. I can't wait to see your kitchen come together!!!

I really like that last chandelier that you posted. As soon as I saw it I immediately thought of your faucet. They would look great together as would your granite. I like it better than the others that you posted.

Posting all of this out has really helped with the decision process. I really appreciate everyone's input. When we get back from vacation. I will post a picture of the hemp tile. I finally convinced my husband to try a new vacation spot and all it has done is storm like crazy!

Ok, I just played with my new app again, it's fun! I tried to put all your finishes on top of the gorgeous stone countertop! That chandelier is perfect. I think this kitchen is going to be stunning!

Amber--you are correct again. It is almost like a tropical storm. Horrible.

Rebunky!!!! I am squealing with delight!!!!!!! You are the best!!!! Thank you!!!!! I am seriously excited. :)

    so sweet of you!

When I have shown a picture of the granite to tile people and others in the kitchen industry. They get so excited. Several have said...so happy to see a NON-marble, white kitchen. I imagine for creative people it is fun to pull something together like this.

Dont get me wrong the marble look is gorgeous. I just love to do my own thing.

I totally remember your granite from your other thread a while back. It is one of the most amazing stones I have ever seen. Seriously....I love it!

    gwlake thanked rebunky

You should see it in person. My husband absolutely adores it. He is not someone who gets involved in any part of this process. But he loved this. I went by to look at it to check the tantrum colors against it. The fabricator said I will even love it more once it is installed because I will always find something else to look at in the stone.

Did you say what sink you are getting? Sorry if I missed that. I just love my silgranite précis. The truffle would go great I think. If you like it I can add it to your design board. :-)

ETA: Oooops just saw your thread about the farm sink. That will look great as well. Lol!

    gwlake thanked rebunky

Thank you. That is a nice looking sink. I am doing two copper farm house sinks. I love copper sinks. I had one in my last house. I really like looking at it patina. I still need cabinet hardware. :)
