Finally making some progress on our home!

As many of you know, the farmhouse remodel has been put off (indefinitely) due to lack of funds. But we have decided to remodel/refresh our little manufactured home that is next to the farmhouse.

So, after all the cute pictures of kitchen with fireplaces that I found for farmhouse remodel....we decided to swap the living and dining areas. Now the table is in the bay window, by the fireplace.

And we just tore up the carpet and we're putting new floors down. Vinyl tiles that look like parquet wood...and we can't believe how much brighter the space is now! I love these cheap, easy-to-install, vinyl tiles :)

Here's our current table...our new CL table is still up at mom's. This is very similar in finish, though...just smaller.

Close up of floor....

Kitty in window....

Darker, but shows fireplace...

I like how you are repurposing your space. Sometimes that is all it takes.

I like the tiles and they will also look nice in your kitchen.

No new pictures yet, but we did get my desk moved into our bedroom. It will be our 'mini office' and now we can rip up the rest of the carpet in the living room/turned dining room.

After getting the space opened up, we think my mom's loveseat will look really good there! It would be nice to have a comfy little seating space in the room.

The only thing we did not plan on....are all these fires! So much smoke, we can't pull up the carpet, because we can't open the windows. Too much farm dust/dirt in the carpet (under the pad we found out last time) to NOT open the windows and use fans.

So....patiently (okay impatiently LOL) waiting for smoke to clear, so we can finish the dining room. I did find a really nice wrought iron chandelier (discounted by about 70%) at big box store. Just had to strip off all the 'extras' and get it down to the basics. Now we just need a clear day to spray on a little black paint and it's ready to put up, too :)

We are trapped inside by the smoke as well. I think my eyes are permanently watering. Looking forward to seeing more pictures, it looks great so far!

Chelwa- Maybe we should forget the move to another part of Washington and we both relocate somewhere with no smoke and warmer winters! LOL But the truth is, once the smoke clears...it will be a lovely summer/early fall.

Steph- I know what you mean! I had no idea how much dirt was UNDER the carpet pad, but it's an old carpet. Will not be missing it :)

We replaced the carpet (new from PO but old underpad) with vinyl plank - yup lots of gross dirt and gunk under that pad and the vinyl plank was so easy to install and looks great. It's so easy to keep clean and everything looks brighter, too. Your new dining area looks great!

Hi Lavender! came by to visit and I saw your dining room. It looks like it will be very nice. Sorry to hear you were suffering through all the smoke. Hope that turned out okay. I cannot even imagine having to breathe smoke from fires all day!

We were lucky that the smoke didn't get in the house too much....but no open windows! That's gone (thankfully) but now it's cold and rainy. But that's better than smoke....

Hope you are doing well! The dining room is coming together and now we're working on the kitchen. Quick picture of the apron wall....still painting and finishing floor tiles :)

Looks like a lot of fun is going into the project!

I love that color. The green apron reminds me of dresses I made for my girls when they were little. :)

I like what you've done LL and the green paint is perfect. It doesn't matter where you live, dirt sifts through carpet. I wish we could replace ours with wood look vinyl, but dh insists on carpet in the bedrooms. You can always use area rugs for warmth. Sorry you had to deal with all the smoke, that sounded really bad.

Thank you all for the nice comments!

Still waiting for dishwasher repair (Monday) so flooring is on hold a few more days. I did start shelf liners though. More green :)

That's a pretty chandelier. Your ceilings look tall too which always makes installing lights a challenge. I love the fireplace behind the table, very cozy.
