yep it needs watered. it doesn't have enough moisture to transpire.

I felt the soil and it is always nice and damp. Could the raised beds soil be getting to warm? The bed is about 12" deep.

You could try some mulch? Maybe it didn't send it's roots deep enough because we had so much rain (or they aren't as healthy for the same reason).

I have had them wilt some years during very hot weather. The key is to observe and see if they recover in the evening as it cools off and the sun goes down. If they recover, that is a sign they aren't able to transpire well enough in the current conditions, as Robert stated. If they don't recover overnight, there is something else going on. This is not a reflection of whether the soil is wet or dry----it just means that in this heat the plant leaves cannot transpire rapidly enough. Mulching likely would help by cooling the soil. Unmulched soil can easily be 20-30 degrees hotter than well-mulched soil so it could be that the plant roots are toasty hot. Other common reasons for wilt: very dry soil or very wet soil.

They are mulched. They do recover in the evening. I guess that it's just to hot and it can't get enough water thru the plant. I just don't want them to stop flowering, my grandson is thrilled that it flowers at night.

First off looking at the heading I need to learn to proof first. HA. This morning I put a thin layer of compost and added more mulch to the base of the moonflower. It fills back out every evening. I went out last nigh to see if it was flowering, it was and the vine was full and lush. I guess I will just leave it at that.
