Cabin: bedroom carpeting

Remodeling our lake home and are now working on the bedrooms. We have installed hickory floors in the kitchen/living room areas. We would like carpeting for the bedrooms as generally we feel it would be less upkeep. Am not excited about berber, and of course want something that will stand the test of time. Any ideas? Bedroom walls will be natural stained pine. Thanks!

I suggest using carpet custom finished to room size minus a foot or so, on top of hickory flooring. It will be much easier to remove for cleaning.

Have you considered continuing the hickory (or engineered hardwood) and then adding different area rugs, so that each room could be decorated uniquely? I think it would be so much nicer, probably no harder to keep clean and when the rugs wear out, easier to replace than wall to wall.
