'African Queen' is a registered cultivar and should only be propagated asexually. The African Queen 'strain' is a group of seed grown Aurelians that includes other orange-gold colored trumpet lilies like Copper King, Anaconda or Golden Clarion. The term 'strain' always refers to a seed group that will produce usually uniform but not identical looking plants.

Yeah deddiecz3 they are sooo scented! It's their fifth year in my garden and I lost the package so I don't know ehat specie they are. It looks like afrinav queen too to me but I wanted to make sure. :) I plantel lots os LA, OT, Asiatic and Aurelian lilies last year and they are blooming so nice! :)

So strain means that they are not African Queen just other lilies grown from African Queen seeds? If I undersrood tht correctly.

That's pretty much it :-) Aurealian lilies are hybrids so plants grown from seed do not necessarily come true to type. A real African Queen will only be propagated asexually (like from scales) to get an exact clone, never by seed.

Certainly could be :-) Looks like the AQ's I used to grow.......but it also looks a lot like Copper King, which I also used to grow. And I am not smart enuf about these things to be able to tell the difference between the two!
