A wood plank.

A medium brown wood floor. The cabinets provide the color, the soapstone will look dark and rich, and I think they will look really nice against each other. I'd want to keep the floors neutral since the cabs and counter are both a focal point. I would go with a classic subway tile backsplash as well, maybe in a herringbone pattern.

They were previously tan/yellowish. Yes, much better.

I have wood floors outside of the kitchen so I wasn't sure if another wood would clash.

Any possibility of matching what is outside the kitchen?

This is the wood floor that is just outside of the kitchen. It was under carpeting for over 30 years but we have not had the funds to redo it. The current floor is to the right.

This is the laminate in our basement.

Thanks for posting. Too bad about the size of the picture. My mom is making custom curtains for me using this and linen. Thinking about using a lighter blue/green on the walls.

Love the material. It's subtle and elegant. Any of the colors in that material will work fine for the walls. Best thing about wall paint is when you want to change it - a few hours work and a very small investment in paint and you can go with a different look. I'm looking forward to seeing your finished product.
