Oh, that's great, Ninkasi. I'm going to have to tell my son in law about you. He has brewed his own beer for quite a long time--actually, began twenty odd years ago before it became so popular. Then went on to other hobbies, and now is back brewing. He's in a beer club with mostly guys. They sit around sampling interesting beers, or ride their bikes to microbreweries and pubs around town--a bunch of drunk bicyclists (no, just kidding). I think it's neat that you make so much interesting stuff. I do grow hops for my son in law. Diane

Hops from a few years ago. I grow a much bigger vine now. Diane

Very interesting, but what if you have a rose bonsai without even trying for that effect? I might have a couple. (Just being silly).

To go way off the subject, I wonder if you know there is a very good beer made in Oregon, I believe, named Ninkasi. My son in law sampled some this summer. When he mentioned it, I immediately thought of you. I think it's pretty neat. Diane

How sweet of you Diane! Yes there is an excellent Oregon brewery called Ninkasi, the Sumerian goddess of fermentation. It is a bit of a pastime of mine, brewing cider, gruit and kombucha. I also make vinegars, sauerkraut and cheese. So a fitting forum tag I think :-)

Although important to add-- I do not claim goddess-like ability in the above pursuits.

How beautiful your hops are! I started brewing because my husband is allergic to hops! And we are in Germany the land of beer! I always say I got a defective German. I make gruit which is beer with out hops, very ancient type of thing. Made with heather.

It is funny you mention the beer and bike club, I am a cyclist too and it really seems that the two often go together!

Interesting but to me it seemed like mostly trunk and not much else. There were a few buds but I didn't see any open blooms. Not knowing what rose it is it's hard to say what the blooms should look like.

I love bonsai so when I saw this, I immediately shared it with people. Thank you. The trunk formation is very interesting and if trained properly, this could be really interesting.
