Hi Tarez. The alcove was constructed from concrete blockwork with a fireline plasterboard finish. A concrete liner was used within the chimney breast to form the flue. Distances were in accordance with the requirements of UK Building Regulations, Approved Document J which can be downloaded from the planning portal website:
