Wisteria Woes

Hey guys, I got a Wisteria plant (Japanese I think) earlier this summer with the intent of growing it in the tree form, but when I got it, it had 3 main vines rather than one, and I just couldn't make myself cut two of them off. Will it make the training harder if I have the 3 vines braided around one another rather than having a single main vine? Thanks!

    This one is about 20 years old. It is a hybrid pink, and not as robust as my purple one which is trained on a porch railing (not as a tree). The bottom two feet are nice and sturdy, but where it splits into two trunks above that it is still very flexible. The trunk needs to be several inches in diameter before it really stiffens up. Three trunks are fine for training, but one trunk might be stronger when it gets thick enough.
