Beautiful Jane. I don't have great luck with growing phals and only have a few.

Do you by any chance grow schilleriana? I so want my plant to flourish. It bloomed this past year and I thought the plant was finally off to a good start. Now I just this a.m. noticed that one of it's only two leaves is yellowing. There is a tiny start of a third leaf growing, but darn, it's losing ground!

I feel for you Sheila. Its tough growing Phals in Florida. So much easier in NY. Boy, they get hit with all sorts of fungus, bugs and just seem to wilt in this heat.

This cross seems to like the heat. I mounted it and grow it under the roof of the patio. Doesn't get direct sun and I forget to water it. I'm not good with mounties.

But it keeps making buds and spikes. Just an easy one if anyone wants a small Phal which doesn't complain about the heat.

Possibly. Most Phals seem to have a hard time with the constant high temps. I'm beginning to think they might do better mounted which provides more air movement around their roots.

I've written a few times how I put Phals out in strongly filtered light in a glass-house for summer. Down near the floor the fan runs 24/7. The caspar milktoasts need warmth, shade and air movement.

It is ironic that they did better in NY. I remember arriving there ages ago for an autumn colour tour. There was sweat on the brow till a cold front moved through.
