Ok so the very first thing is to soak the roots in water this helps to remove the potting medium as well as to show you which roots are good ( green), and which are dead ( brown or mushy). Remove ALL brown and mushy roots with a clean strile cutting tool, I use scissor. Next get a pot that holds the roots comfortably plus about half inch on either side put medium on the bottom, I use bark mix. Put the plant in LEAVING ALL THE ARIEL ROOTS OUTSIDE ( roots that were not in the media) and just back fill the pot making sure the orchid is firm and not wobbly when finish. Give a good watering and place the plant in a slightly less light than before till it recover the repotting. I use clear plastic pots this way I can see what's happening in the medium. Thnx..i was hoping to use the same pot after pruning the roots. I do have barkmix.

Not a problem once the roots still fit. But don't cut healthy root so the plant fits in the pot. Remember healthy root system means healthy plant. Just have a few different sizes pot on hand so you can choose from. Velleta

Velleta is right. Soak the roots so they get soft. Remove as much media as you can. I do not suggest cutting any roots unless they are rotted. Yours look healthy and I would leave them alone.

When you get the mix out, you'll have plenty of room to put them back in the pot. Just try to gently get the bark mix inside the root ball and put it in the pot.
