I think I got all the rot, Marie. The dark park is as firm as the rest. I did make an addirtional cut afree the first time as I found more a couple of days later. I am tempted to lay her on her side and leave the cut area above ground to see what happens. What do,you think? I am open to suggestions.

I think it will do better potted up, since you left a significant amount of roots. Just make sure your potting material drains very fast.

But I have rooted a yearling the way you are thinking of doing. Except I sprayed it with alcohol and bagged the bottom instead, to keep it humid. It started sprouting roots after two weeks and when they were about half a centimeter long, I potted it up. Then in the spring, I planted it in the ground. Then I dug it up last weekend. No, that's a lie. I did not dig it up--I yanked it out.

I have repotted it since, planning to use it for a grafting experiment. Adeniums are extraordinarily durable.

Marie, you were right. There was more rot. I did more major surgery and set it out to dry again. The foliage still looks great.

Pagan, I like your idea. Did you let it dry out before bagging it? I really don't want to lose my plant.

Yes, I did. I think I left it out for about 3 days--it was only a yearling so it dried out quickly (smaller surface area). Yours might take longer. And also because it was a yearling--they are vigorous growers---it rooted quickly. I have not had to do this on my older plants so I do not know how quickly they bounce back.

If I keep whittling away on this girl, there will be nothing left. I think I might try putting a plastic disc on her scar to help force root growth. Do I need to adhere the disc to the cut surface, or just stand her on it? I am so disappointed in this beauty, but I do so want her to survive.

More surgery. I cut off 4 branches, and the leaves. Dusted every cut with cinnamon. Saving the cuttings, and hoping for the best.

Going to check my Home Depot receipt, just in case. Got it!
