It's lovely, and sale items are the best. I've gotten a couple of things from them which turned out not to be practical for me. My question would be -- can you wash it if you needed to?

I have a heavy, king size RH linen quilt which attracts all the cat hair and which is too big for my washing machine, meaning I have to take it to the laundrymat or cleaners, making it pretty much useless for me.

I agree. I used to buy RH pillow covers at the outlet as long as they were washable. I have some euro shams that I use on a pillow that my dog sleeps on. Always wash up god as new!

I fell under the spell of Rough Linen after reading about them in this forum. I ended up ordering 3 pinafores (2 for me, one gift) and I'm rarely without one on if I'm home. Love, Love their products but we've never slept on linen sheets and I simply could not justify the price not knowing if we'd like them.

I got an email from RH advertising a big sale on their Belgian linen so I ordered a set of sheets & pillowcases. They arrived yesterday. I laundered last night & put them on the bed this morning.

I figure it's similar to when I tried out induction cooking on a single burner plate before I invested in a whole range. People told me if you like the single unit you'll love the range because it takes it to the next level.

If we love the RH sheets I'll save up for the RL ones and put the RH ones in the guestroom. If they don't work for us I will offer them to my DD or keep as a spare set and not agonize over the cost of having tried them.

The RH set arrived very quickly. They were packaged in a matching linen drawstring bag which can be used to store them. They were not skimpy thin, but not as hefty as the Orkney linen of my RL pinafores.

There was some shedding of lint in my dryer basket, but not a crazy amount. I washed them in cold & machine dried till they were just slightly damp then let them air dry overnight. They were very soft and luxurious feeling when I made up the bed. Can't wait to jump in tonight! I'll follow up.

I have that exact quilt - arrived a couple of days ago. It is extraordinarily soft velvet, thick and fluffy. It arrived in a heavy zippered plastic bag, which had a somewhat funny odor to it. I put the quilt in the dryer with a couple dryer sheets, and now it smells great. It's still too hot for me to sleep with it on the bed, so I can't attest to it's qualities in that regard. But it's well made with nice fabrics.

Thank you all for responding! @ atomicjay007 what color did you get?? It is dry-clean only and I don't think that will be much of a problem for me. My hounds don't sleep on the bed and I no longer have a cat. I do like the loft and dimension shown in the picture.

I ordered the Morel color. The tag does say dry clean only, but with four dogs, it's definitely going to take a dip in the washing machine, haha.

I realize the OP was particularly interested in the quilt but asked about experience with RH bedding. So I'm reporting back as promised in case anyone's following this thread for more general info.

In summary, when DH slipped into bed last night he asked why we had never slept in linen sheets before. They felt luxurious and dreamy. I'd love to have them on all the beds!

I used a linen duvet cover from Ikea on our comforter that I'd purchased intending to use at the lakehouse. The RH linen was far more supple and softer and has a tighter weave. My sheets are Ivory and look just as I expected based on their website and my monitor - a creamy, not yellowy, white. I ordered the single tone-on-tone monogram & it was well done - centered on the top sheet & on the middle edges of the pillowcases.

Again, delivery was prompt, they arrived nicely packaged and they washed up beautifully - no puckering or hanging threads. I'm really pleased.

just a tip -- hold on to those linen bags that the RH linen comes in; you might need them for patches.

I have purchased some of the belgian linen items and they have been good quality. The velvet quilt is gorgeous. Would make a beautiful bed come winter time. I would never, ever, wash something like that myself. That covering would not be "used" in our house. We do not use our duvet, comforter, etc. whatever the top cover is. It's removed at night. I think when you start washing bedding it kind of starts the process of it wearing out. For no more often than something like that would need to be cleaned - I would have it dry cleaned. I understand if you have small children or dogs on the bed, it might not be practical. We have a small dog, and she is allowed on the bed but she has a blanket on the bed. Also, she does not shed.

I love that quilt! My worst customer service experience ever was with Rh and I had to remind myself of the details when I recently found myself almost ordering a large piece of furniture from them.

That's a beautiful quilt but I have a dry clean only PB silk quilt and shams set and wouldn't buy something again that couldn't be thrown in the washer.

I love my RH stonewashed linen sheets and duvet cover. They became even more comfortable after I washed them in baking soda and vinegar a few times.
