Summer isn't the best time to root anything. But, think about it. Wrap the entire top halfway down with grafting tape so the tops don't dry out, then stick the thing in a bottle of damp perlite/potting soil. Water the thing every 4-9 days. Suddenly you will see growth on top and roots on the bottom. Pot the plant up and don't over water.

I tried different methods of rooting over the winter (in cups - some with moist sphagnum moss and some in potting soil with lots of perlite, in clear plastic covered shoe box with moist sphagnum moss and in moist paper towels inside ziploc bags. They all had similar results: 6-8 weeks before any sign of roots. The cups had the most die-offs. The cutting would develop mold and rot. I found all these methods required too much attention and troublesome.

Those that survived are now 8 mos old. I lopped off the tops of some of them (bc they were shooting up to high) and put the cuttings in glass jars with water on my kitchen counter facing south in full sun. I trimmed the large leaves off the stem. I can tell you that within one week it was showing signs of rooting. See pictures below.

The quick rooting could be bc the cuttings are young. Hardened ones may take longer. But I will try them next time and post pics again.
