Never heard of it.

Never heard of it either but when i googled "mud paint", no quotes, i got many hits including http://mudpaint.com/ as well as many on pintrest etc

Seems kinda similar to chalk paint at first glance.

I did the same thing Giantpony. It does sound very much like chalk paint. I find it so funny how both say they are durable, yet easily distressed. They contradict themselves.

Are you sure that they're not referring to the real mud coating artisans coat our adobe walls and homes with? I've never heard of this on drywall, though.

Justgotabme, thanks for posting the link. I woke up in the middle of the night remembering that I didn't do this. "Distressing" is usually done with sand paper on edges or applying Vaseline to where you want the color to come off (still am working out why any one in their right mind would do that!!!). Lucky me, maybe I won't paint my already distressed stuff. And since I'm in the middle of painting my living room after doing a bathroom and bedroom I guess I'm distressed enough as it is...

Sue Daigle, it was GiantPony that posted the link.

Apparently I am still asleep!

LOL

There is a clay "paint" popular in expensive houses around here.

It's fabulous but it is FRAGILE - scuffs, rubs and soaks up dirt.

That may be it. I know the price is quite expensive but I was hoping to hear about how it performs. I suppose if things get dirty enough and you had the money you could get someone else to repaint. Don't want to keep repainting. Many thanks, lazy_gardens.

In case anyone is wondering I updated my forum name. Just for grins.

couldn't one use a matte varnish to preserve it?
